The Trip

This small project is a brief reflection on the idea of non-places: airports, bank-machines, supermarkets, subways, highways; places to which individuals are connected in a uniform matter and where no organic social life is possible.
I centered the piece around a trip on the bus, juxtaposing images of my view from inside with texts and sounds of my thoughts, which are always memories and accounts of sensations.  The texts of the non-place (informative, instructional) and the empty view (undefined, impersonal) are in contrast with the texts and sounds of the personal, strings of fragmented texts, suggestions of noise, the insinuation of the personal, the residue of an undefined idea.

This piece was done in Shockwave. The screen is divided into windows that offer different views at the same time, rather than having the user navigate through the piece.
