Fissures (Iinstallation, 2004) - Video monitor, sand, adobe, steel, inkjet prints
This project is a homage to my grandparents' Palestinian family, whose members were citizens of no land. The installation includes a sculpture consisting of a metal, rectangular wagon filled with adobe, with fissures or perforations that allow the audience to see buried old photographs of my ancestors illuminated from below. On the floor, there is a map of sand. Like in a burial place or an excavation site, the photographs, which are the only images that connect me to that time, are placed to rest. |
