aluCine Festival Pocket Video Workshop
by Fluid Media Lab

November 15 to 18, 2010 from 10AM to 4PM.
Workshops will be held at
InterAccess, 9 Ossington Avenue, Toronto.

Overview of activities
The objective of this 20-hour workshop is to learn how to produce micro-narratives in the form of celu-films (pocket film/video); those created for and by portable devices, encouraging audiovisual experimentation in these formats.

Is a practical workshop where student will learn how to maximize the image use of their cell phones and other portable devices that can record video. Learn how to record videos in your portable device, download media to computer, add sound, edit your files, and finally export.

11th aluCine
Toronto Latin Film & Media Arts Festival
November 18-21, 2010

aluCine is organized by Southern Currents / Corrientes del Sur, a Toronto-based, non-for-profit organization dedicated to the development and presentation of contemporary media art by local artists of Latin American heritage; the presentation of international Latino works in Canada; and the presentation of Canadian works in Latin America and elsewhere.

The 11th aluCine Toronto Latin Film & Media Arts Festival will open on November 18 and run until November 21. The opening Film Gala on Thursday November 18 will take place at the Innis Town Hall at 2 Sussex Ave. The following three nights, Friday to Sunday, November 19-21, will be located at The Polish Combatant's Association at 206 Beverly Ave.

Videophagy /Videofagia

Videophagy /Videofagia is e-fagia collective’s first project that is totally dedicated to video. The medium of video continues to be transformed by changes in technology. With Videophagy / Videofagia we want to explore the different forms in which video production and transmission have been influencing art and society. The project is divided in three parts: The first part is the gallery exhibition Video Web and Politics at Function 13 Gallery; the second part is a Series of Screenings at Hot Shot Gallery presented in conjunction with talks, and a performance; the third part is an Online Channel presented on our website as well as on Vimeo

New Video Art

New Video Art is curated by Lee Wells of Perpetual Art Machine, bringing you the very best from the international video art scene.  The first project featured is A Light at the End of the Tunnel, an epic video art trilogy about the human condition which includes seminal works by 30 international emerging artists.

PAM is an online community portal for video artists and traveling interactive installation. Created in 2006, PAM premiered at Scope New York and has since presented installations and screenings internationally in museums, festivals and art fairs. PAM has become one of the most important resources for video art on the web with more than 2000 active members from over 80 countries.

Body of knowledge

This is part of a series of Exhibitions and round-table discussions organized by Matiz-Nuance MultiArts Movement. This series, which addresses the political through Latin American artists in Toronto, will integrate different artistic and academic perspectives to generate discussions and dialog between the public and the participating artists. “Body of Knowledge” will feature five artists who will present their work in the first half and will engage in dialog in the second half.
